WWI BRITISH BRODIE HELMET WITH LINER

Description

Original WW1 british made Brodie helmet. Helmet has original paint and liner, no chin strap (remnants are still there) liner has "war department" stamp on it. Helmet bail has "split rivet pins" and is marked HS 4 for Hadfield LTD of Sheffield.
Liner is in very good condition and with a little work one could add a reproduction chin strap and have a remarkably nice WW1 helmet.
Now how it got to the U.S. is anyone's guess, but I have read where early on when the US first entered the war, we bought Brodie Helmets from the British until we started to make our own. OR....its a vet
souvenir who knows??
